Let me start by saying how great it was to be back at the Silver Dollar this past Friday. The venue has become like a second home to us and, on top of that, we were playing with some pretty cool cats (Most People, Invasions, and, of course, Attagirl) who made it hard not to enjoy ourselves. Hats off to everyone who played because from start to finish I think it was hard to take your eyes off the stage.
As noted before, this was a quasi going away party for us before we hit the studio and spend the summer on the road a bit. It was great to see so many people out for our little group with lots of new faces and some old, some friends driving a hell of a distance to come check us out (thanks Sarah!) and the others who have been at nearly every show, but everyone made it a pretty fun and special night for us. Plus, “Twist & Shout” dance party was pretty awesome.
Now the reason why it was a quasi going away party is the fact that we will be playing the legendary Horseshoe Tavern on Tuesday, June 19, which will be our official Toronto send-off before we ninja vanish for awhile. The Tuesday gigs are always a bit rough for all of us that work the next morning but the good news is that this show is absolutely free. We figured it was the best way that we could say thank you and see you later.
After that begins our focus on branching out to other towns as we dance with our friends, The Folk, in Guelph, Ontario for their EP release party at the eBar. We met these guys and girls a while back when we played together at Rancho and we fit together like mash potatoes and gravy, so we’re really excited that they asked us to be a part of this show. Without a doubt it’s going to be a rocking night.
Then we’ll be spending the last two weeks of June finishing up pre-production and prepping to hit the studio to make our own record. All of us are really excited to lay down these tunes, which include some familiar (live) favourites as well as some unheard songs that we’ve been saving just for the EP. We’ll be giving you more and more details as the summer heats up and trust me when I say that things are just getting started.
